The cookies we use and why.
We use the minimum number of cookies needed to keep the platform working. No advertising cookies. No cross-site tracking. Full breakdown below.
Effective 2026-05-18
Essential cookies (always on)
These are required for the platform to work. You cannot disable them and still use your account.
- Session cookie. Keeps you logged in across pages.
- CSRF token. Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks.
- Auth state. Remembers your account so you do not have to log in on every visit.
- Tier and feature flags. Remembers whether you are on Free, Pro, or Lifetime so the right features render.
Functional cookies
These remember your preferences. They make the platform nicer to use but you can opt out.
- Active core preference. Whether you last studied Core 1 or Core 2 of CompTIA A+.
- Streak data. Your daily streak count and last activity timestamp.
- UI preferences. Things like the dashboard variant, density settings, or whether you have dismissed an announcement.
Analytics cookies
We use a privacy-first analytics tool to understand aggregate usage. Which lessons get completed, which mode is most popular, which days have the highest activity. This data is anonymized and we do not link it back to individual accounts.
We do not use Google Analytics. We do not use any tool that tracks you across other websites.
Third-party cookies
A few features rely on external services that set their own cookies:
- Stripe. When you check out or manage billing, Stripe sets cookies for fraud prevention and to remember your payment context.
- Cloudflare. Our CDN sets a security cookie to identify trusted traffic.
- Discord (if you join our server). Discord sets its own cookies on its own domain. Subject to Discord's policy.
We do not control how these third parties use their own cookies. We recommend reading each provider's cookie policy if you want full detail.
How to control cookies
Browsers let you block or delete cookies. Where to look:
- Chrome: Settings then Privacy and security then Cookies.
- Firefox: Settings then Privacy and Security.
- Safari: Settings then Privacy. Mobile Safari is under iOS Settings then Safari.
- Edge: Settings then Cookies and site permissions.
If you block essential cookies, the platform will not work for you. We will know you are logged out on every page load and the account will not function.
If you block functional cookies, you can still use the platform but preferences will not persist between sessions.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when we add or remove cookies. Material changes are announced via email and on the dashboard at least 30 days before taking effect.
