About Revy's Tech Journey

Why this exists.
Who built it.
What it isn't.

Built by an IT manager, former CTE teacher, and current MSP owner. Designed to bridge the space between passing the cert and feeling ready for the actual job.

Built by someone who taught the cert and now lives the job.

Nick taught CompTIA A+ to high schoolers as a CTE instructor. Before that he worked in network engineering and led field tech teams. Today he runs an IT service center and Revtek IT Solutions, an MSP he founded.

In both classroom and hiring rooms, the same thing kept showing up. New techs could explain RAID and the OSI model. Reading an upset user's email, deciding when to escalate, opening the right tool to confirm what was actually broken: that part takes practice no textbook gives you.

“Cert prep gets you in the door. What I wanted was a way to also practice what happens once the door is open.”

Revy's Tech Journey is what Nick wishes had existed when he was teaching, and what he wishes existed when he was bringing new techs onto his own team.

Cert prep is everywhere. Job practice is harder to find.

Mike Meyers, Professor Messer, Boson, CertMaster. All solid for learning the exam. What is harder to find is space to practice the day-to-day work the cert prepares you for. That is where Revy's Tech Journey picks up.

The CompTIA A+ tells an employer you understand IT fundamentals. That is real, and it is a useful credential. The next step is getting reps with the work the cert prepares you for, and that part is where most of the prep market stops.

You can recite ports and protocols and still pause the first time a coworker emails in all caps about Wi-Fi that “stopped working.” Reading a ticket queue, deciding when to fix yourself and when to escalate, writing the kind of reply that lands well: those are real skills, and most learners meet them for the first time on the job.

The study side covers every exam objective the way you'd expect. Flashcards, practice exams, a Readiness Score that tells you when to actually book the test. The simulator side gives you a real ticket queue to work through, with Revy as the study buddy who walks through what worked and what to try next time.

The goal is not just passing the test. It is showing up on day one with reps already on your hands.

Three people make this. Two are humans. One is a robot.

We're not inventing job titles to look bigger. This is who actually shows up.

Revy

Chibi-robot · Never patronizing · Never a salesperson

Revy is the platform's study companion. He celebrates streaks, looks concerned when you bomb a practice exam, and explains why an answer was wrong in the exact tone a good study partner would. He is not a chatbot upsell funnel. He is not your AI tutor. He is a character.

  • Friendly, specific, never patronizing
  • Lives in every mode
  • Voice locked in a character bible

Four things we want to be reliable about.

Online learning gets a lot of promises. These are the ones we are holding ourselves to.

Bootstrapped.

No VC, no outside investors. That means no pressure to add features nobody asked for, no pivot to AI tutors because a board wants it, and no shutdown email two years from now when the runway runs out. We grow at the pace customers pay for it.

Honest by default.

The Readiness Score will tell you when you are not ready to book the exam, not just when you are. We would rather you pass on the first try than feel rushed on the second.

Cert prep plus the real job.

Every cert in the catalog gets both sides. Pass the test, then practice the work the cert prepares you for. Both come standard.

Built from real tickets.

Nick still works in IT day to day. The scenarios in the simulator come from the kinds of tickets that actually land in his inbox, so what you practice is what you will see.

05Trust signals

Five things we'd want to know before paying for this ourselves.

Current CompTIA stack.

A+, Net+, Sec+, CySA+.

Ex CTE IT teacher.

Taught high school IT classes covering CompTIA and Microsoft cert prep, plus dual-credit college courses.

Industry experience.

Network engineering and field IT work before the classroom.

Working MSP owner.

Real customer tickets land in Nick's queue. Sim scenarios come from the kinds of issues that actually show up.

Bootstrapped.

No outside investors. Funded by paying customers.

What's live. What's next.

We launch with the CompTIA stack because that is where Nick's teaching is deepest. Cloud and Linux are queued up after that. Anything beyond gets added once we have actually built it.
