Adventure Mode

Learn the cert by living the work.

Adventure Mode turns every CompTIA objective into a realistic ticket. A user files a problem. You investigate, choose how to respond, and Revy walks you through what worked and what to try next. Same exam coverage, taught the way the job actually feels.

What you actually do

Not lessons. Not flashcards. Cases.

Most cert prep is read, memorize, regurgitate. Adventure Mode is read the ticket, decide what to do, watch it play out. The exam objectives are still 100% covered, but you learn them by using them.

Read the ticket

Each scene opens with a real-feeling ticket. The kind you would actually get at a help desk. Context, frustration, the user's actual words.

Make decisions

Branching choices. Investigate first, ask the user, escalate, or fix directly. Each path teaches something different and shows real consequences.

Get the why

Revy explains what worked, what didn't, and why. Not a graded test. A study buddy who reacts to your reasoning, not just your final answer.

Replay differently

Same scene, different choices, different outcomes. Replays don't feel repetitive because the branches are real. You learn the objective from multiple angles.

Inside a scene

Anatomy of a ticket.

Scene 04 · Module 02 · Networking Basics

Sarah from Marketing says the WiFi is broken.

Priority 220 min until her meeting

“Hey, my laptop isn’t connecting to the WiFi all of a sudden. I have a client call in 20 minutes and I really need to be on. Can you fix it fast?”

What would you do first?
APing her machine from your laptop to see if it is on the network at all.
BRemote in and check her wireless adapter state.
CWalk her through the WiFi toggle on the side of her laptop.
DTell her to restart and check back in 5.
If you pick C

You verify the obvious before remote work. Saves time. Revy nods. You learn why “Layer 1 before Layer 3” matters in real triage.

If you pick D

“Restart and check back” ducks the responsibility. The user is now stressed AND in the dark. Revy points it out without judgment. You see why investigation first matters.

A taste of the library

The scenes are pulled from real help-desk life.

A+ Core 1 is live now: 27 Adventure Mode lessons covering every objective across all five domains (Mobile Devices, Networking, Hardware, Virtualization and Cloud, Troubleshooting). A+ Core 2, Network+, and Security+ tracks are in the works. The chapters below preview the direction.

Ch. 01A+ Core 1

The laptop that boots to a black screen

Hardware triage. Power vs. video vs. boot loop. Revy walks you through the elimination tree.

Ch. 03A+ Core 1

Why is the printer on the network but not printing

DNS, drivers, spooler, port. Real-world reasons printers are the worst, taught through one user's escalating frustration.

Ch. 06A+ Core 2

The user clicked the link in the suspicious email

Incident response, containment, evidence handling. The first 10 minutes of a breach, from the help desk seat.

Ch. 02Network+

Half the office cannot reach the file server

Subnet vs. VLAN vs. DHCP scope. Read the ticket, walk the topology, find the right fix.

Ch. 04Security+

Why is the SIEM showing the same login from two countries

Impossible travel, MFA bypass, session token theft. Spot it, contain it, report it.

Ch. 05A+ Core 2

The CEO cannot get into her email on the new phone

MFA setup, conditional access, app passwords. Customer service under pressure, the whole way.

The arc

From scene one to exam day.

  1. Pick a track

A+ Core 1 ships first. Net+ and Sec+ follow on the same launch. Pick where you are headed; jump between later.

  2. Play through chapters

Each chapter is themed around a real-world IT scenario. 6-10 scenes per chapter, 5-7 minutes per scene.

  3. Get the recap

End of every chapter, Revy lays out what you learned, what tripped you up, and which flashcards or quizzes to drill before moving on.

  4. Earn Readiness

Adventure completion feeds your Readiness Score. When you hit 80% across the cert, you are exam-ready. Not a guess. A measured prediction.

  5. Take the practice exam

Optional, unlocks at 70% Readiness. Mirrors CompTIA exam format. Tells you exactly which objectives still need work before sitting the real thing.

The questions you are actually thinking.

How long is each scene?+
Three to seven minutes for the read-and-decide. The recap adds another 1-2 minutes. Most learners get through a full chapter in 25-40 minutes.
Can I skip ahead if I already know the topic?+
Yes. Any unlocked scene plays in any order. Free tier opens with the first chapter unlocked; Pro unlocks all chapters across all three tracks.
What happens when I pick a choice that does not fit?+
Revy shows the consequence and explains why a different choice would fit better. You do not lose progress for missing. That is how actual learning works.
Does Adventure replace flashcards and quiz?+
No. It complements them. Adventure teaches the why, Flashcards drill the what, Quiz tests under exam conditions. Most learners run all three.
Is the content actually aligned to the CompTIA objectives?+
Yes. Every scene maps to one or more objective numbers from the official CompTIA exam objectives. The mapping is visible in the recap so you know exactly what coverage you got.
What if I want a more traditional study mode?+
Use Study Mode for flashcards and quiz banks. Use Practice Exam for full exam-format runs. Use Simulator for self-directed help desk practice. Adventure is one of four study modes; pick what fits the day.
Does it work on a phone?+
Yes. The scene player is responsive. Short sessions are great on transit; longer chapters are easier with a laptop.
Is the content human-written or AI-generated?+
AI-drafted, human-reviewed by Nick. Every scene is grounded in public authoritative sources (CompTIA official objectives, NIST, vendor docs, real war stories). Read more on our AI Policy page.
