Read the ticket, open the tools and make the fix, the way you would on the job. Your progress stays in this browser only, uses none of your daily tickets, and creates no account or study record.
What is a help desk simulator?
A help desk simulator, also called a service desk or helpdesk simulator, is a practice environment where you work IT support tickets with working tools instead of reading about them: a printer that will not print, a webcam that shows nothing on a call, a password that needs resetting. In RTJ's simulator the customer, the machine and the tools are simulated, each ticket is mapped to the exam objectives it practices, and you are graded on the fix and on the judgment calls around it.
How does practicing tickets help you get CompTIA A+ certified?
Tickets practice the work, and the exam tests the same ideas, so the path is to practice both. A sensible order on RTJ:
- Work the free ticket above to see what the job asks of you.
- Try the free CompTIA A+ Core 1 practice test to see what the exam asks.
- Do a hands-on lab for a procedure you missed. Free labs need no account.
- Open a free account for the objective-by-objective guides, more tickets, and one full-length timed practice exam on the CompTIA A+ path.

Questions
Is the help desk simulator really free?
The ticket on this page is free and needs no account. It keeps your progress in this browser only, uses none of your daily tickets, and creates no account or study record. A free RTJ account adds five simulator tickets a day across CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security+, and a paid plan removes that limit.
Is it real software or a game?
It is a simulation. The tools, the customer and the machine are simulated and use canned data, and the simulated windows are labeled that way. You do the fix in the tool, and the ticket resolves only when the fix is actually made.
Which certification does it prepare me for?
RTJ is an IT certification platform that starts with CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+. This page starts with CompTIA A+. Simulator tickets also exist for Network+ and Security+.
Do I need a certification to work on a help desk?
Employers decide what they require, and requirements differ. Some job postings list CompTIA A+. RTJ does not promise a job or a pass; it gives you practice at the work and at the exam.
