Apply and verify Group Policy with gpupdate and gpresult
On a domain-joined workstation, run gpupdate /force to re-apply all Group Policy settings, then run gpresult /r and read the Applied Group Policy Objects lists to verify which computer and user GPOs took effect. This lab uses a canned domain-joined RTJLAB machine with fixture policy names, not a real organization's environment. This page teaches a job procedure. These are not exam questions, this is not a score predictor, and nothing here is taken from any exam.
The steps on this page are free to read. The hands-on lab for this procedure is included with Academy.
Steps
- 1
Run gpupdate /force from the elevated prompt to re-apply all Group Policy settings.
- 2
Run gpresult /r and read the Applied Group Policy Objects lists to confirm the expected computer and user GPOs are present.
What you should see
gpupdate reports that the computer and user policy updates completed successfully, and gpresult lists the applied computer and user GPOs.
