Create, start, checkpoint, and connect a VM

APPLIED PRACTICE for the conceptual A+ Core 1 objective 4.1. On the canned RTJ-HVHOST-01 practice host, create RTJ-Client-01 from the provided prepared Generation-2/UEFI-compatible disk, start it, create and rename the Pre-change baseline checkpoint, and access VMConnect. The simulator uses fixed sample data and does not inspect or change the learner's computer.

Steps

  1. 1

Use New > Virtual Machine to create RTJ-Client-01 as Generation 2 with 4096 MB, Default Switch, and the provided prepared Windows training disk.

  2. 2

Select RTJ-Client-01 and choose Start. Confirm its state is Running.

  3. 3

Create a checkpoint for RTJ-Client-01, then rename it Pre-change baseline.

  4. 4

Choose Connect for RTJ-Client-01. Confirm VMConnect opened without changing the VM's Running state.

What you should see

RTJ-Client-01 exists and is Running, Pre-change baseline appears beneath it, and VMConnect opened at the canned desktop scene.
