Install an app past a SmartScreen warning and verify it
Install the approved RTJ Reporting Tool in a canned Windows 11 Settings simulation. Review the SmartScreen warning caused by its missing trusted publisher signature, proceed only because the source has been verified, use the approved folder, and verify the canned installed-app record. Nothing is installed on a real machine.
Steps
- 1
Open Apps > Installed apps. Wait for the list of eight apps to load and confirm RTJ Reporting Tool is not present.
- 2
Select Open for rtj-reporting-setup.exe. In SmartScreen, select More info and confirm the app name and Unknown publisher before deciding to proceed.
- 3
Because this canned installer is approved and its source has been verified, select Run anyway, then select Yes in User Account Control.
- 4
Complete the setup wizard. Accept the agreement, keep C:\Program Files\RTJ Reporting Tool, leave Launch RTJ Reporting Tool checked, and select Finish.
What you should see
Installed apps lists nine apps, including RTJ Reporting Tool 2.4.0. The approved folder and launch-on-finish choice are recorded only in canned simulation state.
